Cranford Inn Clarens is situated in the beautiful village of Clarens in the Eastern Free State, sandwiched between the Rooiberge and the majestic Maluti Mountains. Only 300km from Gauteng, less than 4 hours drive from Durban and approx 2.5 hours drive from Bloemfontein, the Inn is very centrally situated and is an ideal holiday as well as a conference venue We are an perfect venue for both the business traveller as well as for holidaymakers. Need a break from the rat race or are you looking for a stop over while exploring the country side? We are en route to and from the Cape Province from just about everywhere in South Africa. Our hotel caters especially for the local market who are looking for realistic prices, genuine hospitality and comfortable accommodation. We are flexible and approachable, proven by the number of locals who use us on a regular basis. We have 12 splendid rooms, all en-suite (including Family Rooms that sleep 4). Each room has a TV, fridge and a private patio, heaters, fans, bedside clock radios & hot water-bottles. Full tea & coffee facilities are standard in each room. All rooms have recently been upgraded & refurbished into 3 star hotel rooms. We can sleep up to 25 guests. Some pertinent information about Clarens if you have not been to our valley before: • At 1950m above sea level we are one of the highest villages in the country, and, combined with our close proximity to the Maluti Mountains, the weather can be extremely variable, resulting in the proverbial 4-seasons-in-one-day scenario. Please pack accordingly! • All our rooms have private patios, fridges, TV’s, bedside clock - radios & full Tea & Coffee facilities with fresh milk. If you have any special dietary requirements, don’t hesitate to call ahead and make special arrangements. Should you require a mini bar in your room please feel free to request one prior to your arrival. • Our hotel serves a GIANT breakfast every morning. Lunch & Dinner are by prior reservation. We have 13 pubs & restaurants within a 3 min drive of the hotel. Clarens is home to many artists as well as over 18 galleries and fine curio shops. We have access to a number of Adventure venues in the area: from rope & high wire obstacle courses used to prepare the Camel Team participants to down-to-earth games courses We also have a number of hiking trails that can be included in your holiday as well as White Water Rafting, 4X4 trails, Quad Bike Trails, Clay pigeon Shooting, Archery,Horse riding, Trout fishing for Yellow fish, Rainbow & Brown Trout on dam as well as river and various sports activities that are nearby. DIRECTIONS TO GET TO CLARENS FROM GAUTENG (Recommended from the East side of Johannesburg. ) 1. Take the N3 from Johannesburg to Durban. 2. As you cross the Vaal River at Villiers, before the Toll Gate, turn off the N3 and follow the R26 to Frankfort. 3. Continue with the R26 until you get to a T-Junction. 4. TURN TO YOUR RIGHT towards Frankfort. 5. Pass the town of Frankfort and cross a bridge over a large river. 6. Veer towards the left still on the R 26 towards Tweeling. 7. Continue straight on with this road, the R26, over a stop street and past Reitz. 8 When you get to Bethlehem carry on through 2 sets of traffic lights, then a four way stop, and then through a third set of traffic lights, and past a large Engen Garage on your right. 9. About 6 km’s from Bethlehem turn onto the R711/2 to Golden Gate & Clarens. You are about 25 km’s from Clarens. 10. You will pass through the Noupoort or “Nek” of Clarens. Continue down the hill until you see the road leading into the village at the bottom of the hill. Turn right into the village of Clarens and immediately turn left past the Engen Garage. Travel approx 850 m over 2 speed humps and you will see a red Coca-cola sign on your left indicating the entrance to the Hotel.
